Green Spot Under Acrylic Nail
When it appears beteween the overaly and the nail plate it is a direct result of using an infected file implement or instrument or from improper nail plate preparation.

Pseudomonas is a common bacteria found in soil and water and it can get trapped under a lifted acrylic nail. See posts photos and more on Facebook. When the acrylic nails are lifted or they are not fitted properly over the natural nails water gets in easily and thus it provides a breeding ground for the infection.
Typically the nail does not provide a sustainable environment for these bacteria to grow however when conditions are perfect such as when moisture gets trapped these bacteria make a home either on top of the natural nail and under an enhancement. Some doctors will suggest a 1 acetic acid treatment an antibiotic or an antifungal cream. In itself jaundice is not a medical condition.
If this happens be sure you perform proper wound care to prevent infection. Although this green discoloration may have the appearance of a mold this is NOT a mold. The treatment for green nails is to remove the enhancement and trim clean and disinfect the nail to kill the pseudomonas bacteria.
But there is good news. As a nail technician our training tells us that the best thing to do is remove the nail and let it grow off. This type of infection can also happen if you reglue the artificial nail before you clean the gap.
The discoloration is a stain in the keratin of your nail thats caused by a by-product of the bacteria. Dab a thin layer of Neosporin or antibiotic ointment onto the nail bed. It happens mostly when you are applying these nails yourself.
