Deva Cut
The philosophy behind this is that slicing into the interior of a curly haircut has the potential to create frizz.
Deva cut. Either way each cut is a customized cut for each curl pattern and it requires strict and extensive training. I watched curiously as my hair was cut at different angles creating elevations a fancy term for layering to help see my curls would sit. Its different from trimming ends which is best when done on blown out hair to see the split ends.
This is the simple but LIFE CHANGING concept behind the DevaCut. Trust me when I say they are NEVER even. The Deva Cut focuses on either sculpting each curl by cutting it at an angle so the curl pattern is not disrupted or using a technique of cutting curl by curl.
When we do a dry cut with no tension we cut the curl exactly as it lives on your head. You even get a personal curl care lesson before you go. Curly hair is cut in its natural form.
It is a unique dry-cutting method in which hair is cut curl by curl in its natural state unlike the traditional way of cutting hair wet hair first and then comb it while cutting. We connect lines visually instead of literally Well that makes sense. This method of cutting hair was developed by Lorraine Massey author- Curly Girl Handbook and co-owner of Deva Chan salon.
Hair is sculpted curl-by-curl while in its dry natural state. Hair is sculpted curl-by-curl while dry in its natural state. The hairstylist cuts the ends of the hair never texturizing or thinning the hair.
The cut is created on dry hair which allows the stylist to see how each individual curl is shaped and how each curl will fall. If you straighten a DevaCut your hair may appear to be uneven. A hairstylist who employs the Deva cutting method will always cut the hair dry cutting each curl ringlet by ringlet.
